Graston Technique

LET'S GET BETTER

Graston Technique
We now specialize in the Graston Technique; a unique instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization modality that is clinically proven to achieve faster and better outcomes for acute and chronic conditions. This helps the physical therapist diagnose dysfunctions in soft tissues and treat them accordingly. The therapy is aimed at relaxing and healing soft tissues including the ligaments, muscles, fasciae and tendons. Proper application of the Graston technique can also result in the improvement of the appearance of scars.

How it works
Only specialized stainless steel instruments are used for the Graston technique at SoundSide Physical Therapy. Our skilled physical therapist applies these instruments to soft tissues to break down scar tissues and restore optimal function to soft tissues. These instruments facilitate the release of the soft tissues and allow for faster healing of lesions.

Benefits of the Graston Technique
This form of therapy is a noninvasive alternative that has been shown to be effective where other techniques aren’t. Some of the many benefits of opting for the Graston technique include:

  1. Breaking up of scar tissue
  2. Giving relief to muscles
  3. Re-education of muscles
  4. Improvement of scar appearance
  5. Increased range of motion

What patients’ experience
The Graston technique is like a deep tissue massage. The heat and friction also play a role in the healing process. The results of using this modality include decreasing pain, and significantly improving mobility and flexibility.
