Why being fit is so important

Being physically fit is important for your health. If you’re able to maintain a healthy weight, you won’t be prone to health problems such as cardiac diseases. You are more likely to have a relaxed state of mind and be mentally strong. You will also be better equipped to face the ups and downs that life throws at you.

How to know if you’re physically fit

There are various ways you can test your level of fitness. A fun way to test how fit you are is by applying mini challenges. This can consist of any physical activity that you can think of. You simply need to set a goal for your challenge, and see if you can reach it.

For example, you can choose various exercises such as air squats, pushups, sit-ups, high knees, squat jumps and tuck jumps. Do each exercise for one minute, while taking a 30 second break in between. Do as many reps as you can.

You can repeat the test after you’ve completed your fitness program. Check to see if your performance has improved.

Some tips for improving your fitness level

1. Start slow

Start with something simple such as walking. You can invite a friend along to ensure that you stay motivated.

2. Be competitive

Compete against yourself. Set a goal and work towards it. Strive to do better than you did the last time.

3. Avoid overexertion

Getting fit doesn’t mean killing yourself. Take it slow and keep an eye on your heart rate.
